WHAT DOES BRAZOS STAR CREDIT UNION DO WITH YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

Why?
Financial companies choose how they share your personal information. Federal law gives consumers the right to limit some but not all sharing. Federal law also requires us to tell you how we collect, share, and protect your personal information. Please read this notice carefully to understand what we do.

What?
The types of personal information we collect and share depend on the product or service you have with us. This information can include:

  • Social Security Number and overdraft history
  • Credit history and credit scores
  • Employment information and income
    When you are no longer our member, we continue to share your information as described in
    this notice.

How?
All financial companies need to share members’ personal information to run their everyday business. In the section below, we list the reasons financial companies can share their members’ personal information; the reasons Brazos Star Credit Union chooses to share; and whether you can limit this sharing.

How does Brazos Star Credit Union protect my personal information?
To protect your personal information from unauthorized access and use, we use security measures that comply with federal law. These measures include computer safeguards and secured files and buildings.

How does Brazos Star Credit Union collect my personal information?
We collect your personal information, for example, when you

  • Open an account or make a wire transfer
  • Show your government-issued ID or give us your income information
  • Apply for financing

We also collect your personal information from others, such as credit bureaus, affiliates, or other companies.

Why can’t I limit all sharing?

Federal law gives you the right to limit only

  • Sharing for affiliates’ everyday business purposes – information about
    your creditworthiness;
  • Affiliates from using your information to market to you;
  • Sharing for nonaffiliates to market to you.

State laws and individual companies may give you additional rights to limit sharing.

Definitions

Affiliates
Companies related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.

  • Brazos Star Credit Union has no affiliates.

Nonaffiliates
Companies not related by common ownership or control. They can be financial and nonfinancial companies.

  • Brazos Star Credit Union does not share with our nonaffiliates so they can market to you.

Joint marketing
A formal agreement between nonaffiliated financial companies that together market financial products or services to you.

  • Our joint marketing partners include insurance companies.

Text Messaging and Emails

We do not share mobile contact information with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information may be shared with subcontractors in support services, such as customer service. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

With whom do we share this information

We may share the personal information we collect from and about you online as described in this Notice and subject to other legal restrictions and notices you may have received depending on your relationship with us with:

  • affiliates of Brazos Star Credit Union;
  • third-party providers who have contracts with Brazos Star Credit Union; and
  • government agencies or other parties as may be required by laws and/or regulations.

Brazos Star’s Text Messaging Program

  1. We may contact you to remind you of appointments,  loan documents available for signing, other loan notices, loan payment reminders, member account information, credit union closures, emergency notifications, new programs and account agreements
  2. You can cancel the SMS service at any time. Just text “STOP”. After you send the SMS message “STOP” to us, we will send you an SMS message to confirm that you have been unsubscribed. After this, you will no longer receive SMS messages from us. If you want to join again, just sign up as you did the first time and we will start sending SMS messages to you again.
  3. If you are experiencing issues with the messaging program you can reply with the keyword HELP for more assistance, or you can get help directly at {support email address or toll-free number}.
  4. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages
  5. As always, message and data rates may apply for any messages sent to you from us and to us from you. {message frequency}. If you have any questions about your text plan or data plan, it is best to contact your wireless provider.

How to limit sharing

You have choices regarding the sharing of some personal information.

If you wish to be removed from future SMS text communications, you can opt out by texting STOP.

You can send us an Opt-Out Form by mail to opt-out of receiving our promotional text message or emails. Simply complete the Opt-Out Form on our website and mail the form to us or drop it by the credit union. If you opt out of receiving promotional emails, we may still send you texts and emails for other account servicing purposes.
